Dark mode
Every user has the switch – it sits at the bottom of the menu, and there is nothing to turn on first. The choice follows the person, not the installation, so one colleague can work in dark while the next stays in light. It is remembered between sessions and applied before the page is drawn, so there is no flash of the light theme while a page loads.
Stability
Background jobs in the Windows Service now restart themselves if one stops unexpectedly, instead of staying stopped until the service is restarted. We have fixed a problem where some functions failed if the SoftwareCentral database used a different collation than the SQL Server it runs on. If SoftwareCentral cannot reach the Microsoft sign-in service you now get a message that says so instead of a blank error, and the proxy settings can now be applied to every outgoing call, including sign-in and Microsoft Graph.
Intune & Entra
Administrative Unit support: if your policy does not allow an application to create groups directly in the directory, you can now point a tenant at an administrative unit and every group is created inside it. The manual covers the permissions it needs. Test Connection to Intune has been fixed, and IntuneWin creation is faster when the source files are very large.
Shop & Robopack
A message to the approver can now be made mandatory, and orders that have not been approved within a set number of days can be declined automatically. Robopack's check for new versions now confirms a version really exists before downloading it, and writes to the log when a new version is found but cannot be downloaded.
Device Manager, Security Roles and the API
FileVault keys for macOS devices, and co-management status with the Entra ID Device ID for SCCM devices. A Security Role can now be given full access to all Intune Groups, Users or Devices. Seven new Web Services have been added.
Coming next
More than 50 read-only dashboards are being built for 26R4, reading Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender and Configuration Manager alongside SoftwareCentral's own Shop data.
